It is said that God takes away those he loves at the earliest probably so that they do not let any sin tar their character and that is exactly what happened to Claudius D’Costa more popularly known as Gidwon who breathed his last on 14th April 2024 Goa Medical College Hospital, Bambolim. Gidwon whose elders lived for more than 90 years, passed away at the age of 74 after valiantly battling pneumonia in the intensive care unit of GMC for some time. Son of the red soil of the twin villages of the erstwhile capital of Goa, Rev Simiao Purificacao Fernandes was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman by the Holy Pope Francis on Saturday, April 5. The 57-year-old priest hailing from Guirdolim was the Director of St Pius X Pastoral Institute at Old Goa where all new priests are trained in their duties and responsibilities.
