GBE inspires Guirdolim Dy Sarpanch to clean dirty spots

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott’s sustained efforts to keep the twin villages of Chandor-Cavorim and Guirdolim clean has resulted in not only making the two villages cleanest amongst nearby villages but has also spurred Guirdolim Deputy Sarpanch Joao Peixote to personally clean up dirty areas in his ward with the help of some volunteers who are basically his supporters. Another noteworthy feature is that people have now started segregating their waste on a large scale and giving mixed garbage has reduced drastically. On 22nd September Joao along with his friend Menino Peixote cleaned up the area around a culvert at Roinibhat which was much covered with all type of garbage. Master Swaylon Frangel Fernandes who scored 93.5% marks achieved the distinction of being the first ranker from the 110 students of St. Joseph Educational Institute who answered the exams He is the son od Santan and Greta Fernandes from Mena Covatem. Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott helped four sons of the red soil of Goa to stand back on their feet and boldly face their lives ahead and while three of them hail from the twin villages of Chandor-Cavorim and Guirdolim one has relatives there. 21 year old Austin Lobo from Vasco whose two aunts live in Chandor-Cavorim has been provided with an ‘Advanced Reciprocative Gait Orthosis’ that has enabled him to stand on his feet after being totally bed ridden for over a year. Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott congratulates all the students for earning this distinct record and while complementing their parents also thanks all the staff of the school for their hard and dedicated services that made this possible. Chandorkar becomes Herald Editor

It is indeed a matter of great pride for Chandorkar that a Ganv Bhav has become the editor of the popular English daily Herald. This is the first time 1983 when the paper turned into an English daily. The new Editor is Alexandre Moniz Barbosa son of Sebastiao and Otilia Moniz Barbosa from Anthoi Guirdolim. Alexandre became a journalist in 1990 and was the Assistant Editor the magazine Goa Today till he joined Herald in November 2014. He is married to Joan da Costa and has a daughter named Nicole.
