Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott in association with Chandor Seamen’s Association organized a blood donation camp at Chandor today where 29 pints of blood were collected while 11 potential donors were rejected. Dr Ravin Rego of the Hospicio Blood Bank who led the team said the blood donation camp has come at the right moment as presently the blood bank was in dire need of blood and also applauded the organizers for getting such a high number of donors. Various reasons were attributed to the persons who could not donate blood with most of them rejected for low haemoglobin count while there was one case of a boy having very high haemoglobin count. GBE donates convex mirrors, water filter

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott keeping with its motto of making life easier for the people gave five convex mirrors to the Chandor Cavorim Village Panchayat and a water filter to the Andanwadi for use of the tiny tots visiting it. The convex mirrors will be installed at places where there are sharp turns so that oncoming traffic can be viewed to avoid accidents and Chandor Cavorim Sarpanch Edward D’Silva thanked GBE for donating the mirrors. GBE also donated a water filter to the anganwadi where around 20 tiny tots come every day so that they can now drink good quality water instead of relying on the PWD supplied water only. Christmas Party for Senior Citizens

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott held its annual Christmas Party for Senior Citizens of Chandor, Cavorim and Guirdolim village at the Guirdolim Club premises on Goa Liberation Day with around 200 senior citizens participating. Well known musician from the village Cypriano who is also the choir master in the church entertained the senior citizens with his troupe that included top performers in the Voice of Goa contest over the years. The senior citizens actively participated in the ‘Bombing the Cities’ game organized for them which was finally won by Michael Gomes who lives in the Home for the Aged at Cotta which is run by St Vincent de Paul Society. It was a hectic weekend on 6th and 7th October as Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott had two different programmes on those days. On 6th October Deputy Superintendent of Police Raju Raut Dessai along with officials of Maina Curtorim Police station visited the village to interact with the people and on 7th October was the exhibition of the photography competition. The DySP visited Chandor along with the Police Inspector of Maina Curtorim Police Station Pravinkumar Vast, Police Sub Inspector at the Chandor police out post Amin Naik and police constables at the outpost interacted with the people to know their problems and grievances. Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott organized a blood donation camp on 8th May at the Chandor-Cavorim Panchayat Hall where 22 people donated blood to the Blood Bank at Hospicio, Margao whose team had come to collect the blood. Although 31 people had come to donate blood, ni9ne persons were turned back for various reasons. While five were tuned down because their haemoglobin count was low, two were turned down for not getting sufficient sleep. One could not donate blood because he was on medication and another because his blood pressure was high. Vice President of GBE Darwin Cardoso was the first to donate blood. GBE’s Annual Picnic

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott’s annual picnic held on 14th April 2016 at Tarricodde in Chandor was a grand success with 38 people including 6 children participating. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves thanks to the good bonding amongst the members present. The picnic mood was set in right earnest with our evergreen musicians Rui da Silva and his immediate neighbor Juju. But the duo were very ably backed by two professional musicians Jude Roy and Xavier who were Juju’s nephews. GBE member William Mendes too contributed his might with his powerful voice giving that extra zing to the Konkani songs that were sung.
