After a hiatus of two years due to the pandemic, Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott very successfully held its much awaited and very adventurous programme for members and their families, namely Discover Goa. The Project Manager Jose Coutinho truly organised a very memorable adventure for the participants and he was ably assisted by the new General Secretary Francis Coutinho who were backed by founder member and former President John Douglas Coutinho. In all 36 people participated in this adventure which was held on 10th and 11th September. Free Eye Check Up

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott organized a free eye check-up for the residents of Guirdolim and Chandor Cavorim at the Chandor Club premises on 12th November 2022 in which 252 villagers got their eyesight checked. This programme was organized in collaboration with Matoshree Seva Dham Arogya Seva Trust from Mumbai. While Alzira Pereira was the project manager for this programme, the following members of GBE slogged it out to make it a great success: Menino alias Minush Gomes, Esly Henriques, Maria Mascarenhas, Irene Anto, Francis eixoto, Sandeep Kalekar, Francis Coutinho and John Fernandes. Visiting the Aged

World Old Day which is observed on 16th October the world over, and on this day Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott (GBE) visited the home for the aged managed by the St Vincent de Paul Society which is housed at Chandor next to the St. Tiago Chapel. This visit was after a break necessitated by the prevailing pandemic due to which it was decided to protect the aged from any infection. During the visit, the inmates were entertained with video recordings of popular and ever favourite old Konkani songs including those sung by the nightingale of Goa Lorna, Goa’s own musical family namely Alfred Rose, his wife Rita Rose and their daughter Alria Rose. Breast Cancer screening done

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott organized a camp for screening women for breast cancer on 24th September which was held at the Chandor Club premises under the ‘Swasth Mahila Swasth Goa’ project during which 155 ladies were checked up and the good news was that there was not a single suspected case. The camp was commenced at 9 am and ended at 5 pm and women above the age of 25 were screened for breast cancer which is reported to be the third highest killer of women worldwide and India reporting one-fifth of the total cases in the world. In fact in India, it is said to be the highest killer of women and as per 2020 statistics its incidence is 25.8 per cent. Incidentally, the eldest woman screened at Chandor was aged 80. GBE Celebrates Vanmahotsav

Having successfully planted saplings in the past which have now grown into sturdy trees, Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott this year undertook an ambitious project of planting 500 saplings as part of Vanmahotsav celebrations in the twin villages of Chandor-Cavorim and Guirdolim. The programme that was launched on 6th July 2022 had the Range Forest Officer Narayan Vaingankar and Chandor Parish Priest Fr. Jean Ruby da Cruz Fernandes as the joint chief guests. Forest Guards of the Goa Forest Department, Shantesh Naik, Ashok Naik and Santosh Naik were also present.
