The Guirdolim Club at its annual General Meeting yesterday unanimously elected the new Executive Committee with Patwin Fizardo as the president who was praised lavishly for the excellent work done by his as the committee member. Suresh Khandolkar who was elected as the treasure was also praised for his working in keeping the financial records of the club. At Chandor a huge crowd was present for the celebration organized by the Church where there were various contests for the different Basic Christian Communities more commonly known as somudais. A march past was held with each somudai participating in it where members wore colour co-ordinated clothes and some members of the somudai in the group would regularly hit the pido on the ground shouting San Joao. While one somudai danced the march another did the kotti dance with young girls draping the kunbi saree in the normal style and not the kunbi style. Clafasio Dias who was elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly from Cuncolim constituency by the lowest margin of 33 votes achieved this feat by taking a lead in 17 of the 42 polling booths despite ranking at number 4 position in the Cuncolim Municipal area. Clafasio led in all the 3 booths of Macasana, 4 booths of Chandor-Cavorim, 4 booths of Guirdolim, 4 booths of Paroda and the Government Primary School Panzorconnin East Wing and the booth at Village Panchayat of Ambaulim. In the untimely death of Joe Antao, not only Chandor or Goa, but the world has lost a true gentleman which is indeed a very rare breed to find in today’s world. Personally I consider it my good fortune for having known Joe for the last 34 years and having worked closely with him for over 12 years including 34 years ago when both of us were associated with the Jaycees which is now known as Junior Chamber. I have never ever seen Joe losing his temper or raising his voice and I am sure neither has anybody else including his family members. Chandor Club premises inaugurated

The Chandor Club’s club house was formally inaugurated on 7th February 2016 evening in the presence of a large crowd including the who’s who of the village. Ex-President of the Club Fernando Coutinho along with his wife Juliana cut the ribbon to mark the inauguration of the premises. The Coutinhos were given this honour as they have donated the land to the club to build its premises. The premises were also blessed by parish priest Fr. Saude Pereira. The club premises consists of a large auditorium with state of art acoustics that can be used not only for shows and dramas, but even for great parties including wedding reception.
