In the untimely death of Joe Antao, not only Chandor or Goa, but the world has lost a true gentleman which is indeed a very rare breed to find in today’s world. Personally I consider it my good fortune for having known Joe for the last 34 years and having worked closely with him for over 12 years including 34 years ago when both of us were associated with the Jaycees which is now known as Junior Chamber. I have never ever seen Joe losing his temper or raising his voice and I am sure neither has anybody else including his family members. Chandor Club premises inaugurated

The Chandor Club’s club house was formally inaugurated on 7th February 2016 evening in the presence of a large crowd including the who’s who of the village. Ex-President of the Club Fernando Coutinho along with his wife Juliana cut the ribbon to mark the inauguration of the premises. The Coutinhos were given this honour as they have donated the land to the club to build its premises. The premises were also blessed by parish priest Fr. Saude Pereira. The club premises consists of a large auditorium with state of art acoustics that can be used not only for shows and dramas, but even for great parties including wedding reception. Gampona Ghor or Casa de Sessão at Igorjebhat which was in a dilapidated condition posing a great threat to the young children coming there as an anganwadi is housed therein, has been renovated by the children of late Francisco and late Francisca alias Fanny Coutinho. The entire house has been given plastered with cement inside as well as outside besides giving it an entire new flooring of granite stones. Leopard trapped in Chandor

Chandorkars have been living with the leopard for quite a long time now. People have been losing their pets to the leopards for many years now. In fact leopards have been spotted at various occasions not only on the hillock at Ghottmorod but even at Oilem Tollem. However, for the first time now, on 17th July a leopard was trapped in Chandor at Molla just behind the house of Sita Antao where incidentally the trap was laid for the third time in three years. What was trapped is a baby leopard which according to the forest officials is about a two year old female. Chandor Club at its general body meeting held on 19th April in the club premises resolved to give top most priority to collect funds so that the club premises may be completed in the next one year before the term of the current managing committee expires. It is learnt that during the last one year the club has spent around Rs. 17,00,000/- on the building premises taking the total amount spent on it so far to around Rs. 75,00,000/-. It is learnt that the club needs another Rs. 35,00,000 to complete the premises in all aspects given the fact that the ground floor or the basement is lying bare at the moment.
