Who’s Who
Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott is the initiative taken by people who are striving to see that Chandor which was the capital of the Kadamba Dynasty in the 11th Century, regains its place of honour in the present dispensation amongst the panchayats of Goa.
This web site is a part of this initiative to keep in touch with the descendants and inhabitants of Chandor that includes Cotta, Cavorim and Guirdolim to exchange ideas and keep in touch to help Chandor find its rightful place of honour and dignity.

Fr. Jean Ruby da Cruz e Fernandes
Parish Priest
Born in Margao, Fr Jean Ruby da Cruz hails from Benaulim. He is named Jean after St John de Baptist on whose feast day he celebrates his birthday namely 24th June. He was ordained as a priest on 6th May 1996 at Benaulim and has served as Parish Priest of the Cansaulim Parish before being posted to Chandor.

Fr. Clifford Cardozo
Assistant Parish Priest
Born in Margao, Fr. Clifford hails from Ambelim. He was ordained as a priest on 24th October 2008 at Ambelim and worked as Assistant Parish Priest at the St. Cruz parish before his posting to Chandor.

Fr. James Torres e Silva
Chaplain, St Francis Xavier Chapel, Guirdolim
Hailing from Raia, Fr James was born on 23rd June. He was ordained as a priest on 4th May 1988 at a solemn ceremony held at Our Lady of Snows Church, Raia and has served in different capacities for the Archdiocese of Goa. He was the Assistant Parish Priest at Cuncolim, Verna and St. Cruz besides working as a prefect at the Saligao Seminary for two years. Fr. James worked first as the Chaplain of St. Sebastian’s chapel more commonly known as Pandava Copel and later on served as its Parish Priest when it was upgraded. He was responsible for not only establishing the modern art cemetery for the parishioners of Aquem but also set up an ICSE school there. At Guirdolim he feels the scenic beauty has to be preserved and the places of historic importance developed and made known to the world.

Fr. Siran Joaquina Rebelo
Director, Palloti Niwas, Guirdolim
Hailing from Maina Curtorim Fr Siran was born on 17th August 1975 and is the youngest son of Sebastiao da Milagres Paulo Sta Rita Rebelo and Maria Augusta Rebelo’s four children. He was ordained a priest on 1st May 2006 at Chicalim and worked as Assistant Parish Priest at St Vincent Palloti Church at Vijay Nagar in Marol and later at Andheri East. Then he worked as Administrator at Palooti Institute of Philophy and Religion at Assagao and then was appointed Parish Priest at Our lady of Miracles Church, Badem and then as Parish Priest at Tormas Church of St Sebastian’s Church. He joined the Palloti Fathers because be wanted to work as a missionary.

Estefanio Dias
Sarpanch, Chandor-Cavorim
Estefanio was elected unopposed from ward No. 4 and is serving his third term as a member of the Chandor-Cavorim Panchayat. He was earlier elected to the panchayat from 2002 to 2012 from the same ward for two consecutive terms and was Sarpanch of the village for 7 months from 18th March 2011 to 12th October 2011.

Sonia Fernandes
Sarpanch, Guirdolim
Sonia was elected to the panchayat from ward No. 6, reserved for ladies, polling 63.33 per cent of the votes cast in a direct battle of the ballot. This is the third time she is elected to the panchayat as she represented ward No. 7 for two terms from 2012 to 2022 and is presently elected from ward No. 6. She has earlier served as a Sarpanch of Guirdolim for around three and a half years from 4th October 2013 to 5th March 2017.

Deputy Sarpanch, Chandor-Cavorim
Angeella Freeda Nancy Rosy Mendes e Antao more popularly known as Nancy is elected from ward No. 1 which was reserved for ladies. She polled 54.88 per cent of the total valid votes to emerge victorious in a triangular fight.

Joao Peixote is elected from ward No. 1 which had six candidates contesting and he got 39.45 per cent of the total votes.

Pancha, Chandor-Cavorim
Pamela Bruna Castanha who is quite active in church activities is elected from ward No. 2, which was reserved for ladies having polled 51.75 per cent of the votes in a triangular contest. Following her election to the panchayat she unsuccessfully contested the elections to be the deputy Sarpanch.

Donaldo won from ward No. 2 which was reserved for Scheduled Tribes polling 39.80 per cent of the total votes in a triangular contest. This is the first time he is becoming a panchayat member.

Derrick Alberto Braganza Pereira

Derrick was elected from ward No. 3 having polled 59.55 per cent of the total votes cast in a triangular fight. This is the fourth time he is elected to the panchayat and has served as a Sarpanch of Chandor-Cavorim for two years, eleven months from 11th February 2008 to 13th January 2011.

Franky Rodrigues won from ward No. 3 polling 58.80 per cent of the votes in a quadrangular battle. This is the third time he is elected to the panchayat and has served as a Deputy Sarpanch from 19th June 2017 to 22nd January 2020.

Maria is elected unopposed from ward No, 5 which was reserved for ladies and had 296 registered voters. This is her maiden entry as a panchayat member.

Ballu is elected from ward No. 4 having polled 35.13 per cent of the total valid votes in a quadrangular fight. He defeated an ex-sarpanch, an ex-deputy sarpanch and a deputy sarpanch, He has served the village as a panchayat member earlier from 2012 to 2017.

Hipolito Dias was elected unopposed from ward No. 6 which had total 257 registered voters. This is the first time he is becoming a member of the panchayat.

Flavia is elected from ward No. 5 which was reserved for ladies having polled 54.58 per cent of the total votes cast. This is the third time she is getting elected to the panchayat and has earlier served as deputy sarpanch and was the sarpanch for three years and eleven months from 31st January 2002 to 28th December 2005.

Commonly known as Babazinho he is elected from ward No. 7 having polled 51.91 per cent of the total votes cast in a triangular battle. Being quite active in the local sports club and NGO, this is the first time he is becoming a panchayat member.

Milagrina won from ward No. 2 in a direct battle by polling 59.04 per cent of the votes cast. This is the first time she is becoming a panchayat member.

Yuri Lenon Alemao is elected Member of Goa Legislative Assembly by a margin of 3229 votes from Cuncolim constituency and thus represents Chandor, Cavorim and Guirdolim in the Assembly.
