Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott’s annual picnic held on 14th April 2016 at Tarricodde in Chandor was a grand success with 38 people including 6 children participating. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves thanks to the good bonding amongst the members present. The picnic mood was set in right earnest with our evergreen musicians Rui da Silva and his immediate neighbor Juju. But the duo were very ably backed by two professional musicians Jude Roy and Xavier who were Juju’s nephews. GBE member William Mendes too contributed his might with his powerful voice giving that extra zing to the Konkani songs that were sung. Cecilia Jane D’Silva from Chandor was adjudged the best Parliamentarian at the Students’ Parliament Competition organized by the Goa Legislature Secretariat in co-ordination with Goa Legislature Secretariat and Directorate of Higher Education recently. A student of Don Bosco’s College of Engineering, Fatorda she won this award because of the clarity of her thoughts, the presentation of her ideas and the decorum she maintained of the house in session. The competition had 29 colleges participating with 20 to 30 participants and amidst all of them she was adjudged to be the best parliamentarian. Chandor Club premises inaugurated

The Chandor Club’s club house was formally inaugurated on 7th February 2016 evening in the presence of a large crowd including the who’s who of the village. Ex-President of the Club Fernando Coutinho along with his wife Juliana cut the ribbon to mark the inauguration of the premises. The Coutinhos were given this honour as they have donated the land to the club to build its premises. The premises were also blessed by parish priest Fr. Saude Pereira. The club premises consists of a large auditorium with state of art acoustics that can be used not only for shows and dramas, but even for great parties including wedding reception. Christmas Party for Senior Citizens

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott held its annual Christmas Party for senior citizens on 13th December with 134 participating. The party was once again held in the premises of the Chandor Club premises which is rapidly nearing completion. The highest number of participants were from Cavorim followed by Guirdolim and lastly by Chandor. Incidentally the party was held on the first death anniversary of Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott’s founder and an extremely active and important member Benedito Fernandes who had died of a massive heart attack at the same place last year when he was the managing committee member of Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott. Discover Goa 2015

GBE members along with friends and family at the Apeval Waterfall in Ponda Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott held its annual Discover Goa programme on 17th and 18th November and this time three talukas – Ilhas, Bicholim and Ponda were explored by the 18 participants and in all 165 kms were travelled in the two days. The exploration commenced from Chandor and the group went to Old Goa where many churches were visited. Many of the participants had never been to these churches that were visited. First the group went to the St. Cajetan’s church which is modeled after the St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
