Fr. Manuel (Manu) Fernandes hailing from Cavorim, completed 50 glorious years shepherding the Lord’s flock since the first Eucharist celebration he held on 15 th May 1975 at the Nossa Senhora de Belem Church in his home village. He was ordained the same day by then Archbishop Raul Gonsalves. Born of Andre E Fernandes and Henriquette Pereira, he initially studied at Fr. Agnel before joining the Rachol Seminary. He also attained BA degree in history from Pune University. Fr. GBE to undertake “Bio-Mimicry” at Cavorim Oll

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott initiated implementing “Bio-Mimicry” along the Oll or creek in Cavorim by conducting an educative session on 23 rd March to explain the process and its need. “Bio-Mimicry” is a non-invasive process involving manually uprooting weeds like Congress Grass and creepers thatthwart the growth of good plants that have strong roots to hold the soil. Mechanised process of using bush cutters results in killing the much needed natural plants along with the weeds. In all 40 people including the Alternate President and Attorney or Cavorim Communidade along with Chandor Club General Secretary participated in the session. Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott dedicated the month of February that is associated with Valentine or love, to the sick and elderly in the twin villages of Chandor-Cavorim and Guirdolim by giving them tender loving care at their residence. On 2nd February, GBE members visited 12 sick or elderly people residing at Cotta. GBE members who visited them were John Douglas Coutinho, Chester Mascarenhas, Ezly Henriques, Francis Coutinho, Menino alias Minush Gomes, Agneline Gracias, Deliela Fernandes and President Alzira Pereira. Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott dedicated the month of January to service as besides visiting the inmates of the Home for the Aged at Cotta, its members also cleared the garbage accumulated by the side of the two main roads passing through the twin villages of Chandor-Cavorim and Guirdolim.  On 24th January 12 GBE members visited the Alberque or Home for the aged at Cotta which is managed by the Society of St Vincent de Paul, Margao.  Besides interacting with the inmates including those living on the ground floor, GBE also gave them fruits and snacks. Chandor celebrates two feasts

 Twin villages of Guirdolim and Chandor-Cavorim celebrated two feasts – Feast of Our Lady of Bethlehem and Solemnity of the Epiphany on January 6 at the church dedicated to Nossa Senhora de Belem. Chandor is one of the three places in Goa where the Maggi visiting Baby Jesus is enacted. Incidentally, this enactment resumed in the early 70s after a 25 year break in Chandor.  Maverick Antao, son of Mario and Pearl Antao from Anthoi was one of the three Kings. Dressed in red, he represented King of Arabia Balthazar who carried Myrrh as his gift.  Joyden Cardozo from New Township is born to Onastadio and Aveline Cardozo.
