Though faced with the hardships of the pandemic and the ensuing norms that prohibit gatherings, Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott continued its work of helping the residents of Chandor, Cavorim and Guirdolim by helping three truly needy people. What is truly appreciable about this activity is that the entire sum of Rs. One lakh distributed to the needy three was from contributions made by members who have also committed to contribute more so that life is as normal as possible for these persons. In the first place a cheque for Rs. Fifty thousand was given to a lady from Guirdolim who is undergoing chemotherapy at the moment for cancer of the uterus. In the second place a cheque of Rs. Christmas Party organised for Senior Citizens

After a sabbatical last year due to the pandemic Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott held a Christmas party for senior citizens on 19th December and for the first time it was held at Mushroom Garden, Guirdolim. The 233 senior citizens enjoyed it very much thanks to the entertainment arranged by Anthony Pereira. While Jalin provided the music on keyboards, GBE members Domingos Cardoso, William alias Willy Mendes, Lindarifa and Domnic Mendes sang songs. In fact Domnic, Anthony Pereira and Willy even sang a trio at the party competed by Jaret da Silva. Some senior citizens led by Doming from Guirdolim also sang songs. CRZ fails to inspect river filling

Guirdolim and Chandor residents are upset with the Salcete Taluka Level Coastal Committee for its failure to carry out an inspection of CRZ violation in Guirdolim. Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott had complained to the Collector South that the railways had filled up a rivulet in Guirdolim and blocked its joining the Kushawati river. The complaint was forwarded to the Taluka Coastal Committee for necessary action by the Collector. GBE cleans Chandor Cavorim roadside garbage

In a two hour long effort 25 villagers of Chandor Cavorim filled up over 30 big black bags with plastic and paper lying by the roadside. The exercise was initiated by GBE and supported by Chandor Club, Chandor Guirdolim Veterans, Chandor Seamen Association, Guirdolim Club and Villa Marex. The drive started at 8:30 am and concluded at 10:30 am. The main road from Cotta bridge to deputy sarpanch Arlinda’s house at Bindimoll, Misamer and the market square were cleaned. The collected waste was disposed off through Goa Solid Waste Corporation and a similar drive will be done im Guirdolim on November 14. GBE gets a new committee

John Fernandes was unanimously elected President and Sita Antao the General Secretary of Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott, Chandor at the general body meeting held on Saturday. Maria Maccarenhas and Irene Antao were elected as Vice Presidents while Anand Shirodkar was retained as the Treasurer and Francis Coutinho was elected as the joint secretary. The following were elected as managing committee members: Basil Fernandes,Eslinda Henriques, Micheal Pereira,Serena Antao,Sebastiana Cardozo,and Fiel Dias As the outgoing President Julio Dsilva is sick and could not make it, his message was read out by Sita wherein he enumerated how GBE has changed the lives of the villagers and the functioning of the panchayat.
