It is indeed a matter of great pride for Chandorkar that a Ganv Bhav has become the editor of the popular English daily Herald. This is the first time 1983 when the paper turned into an English daily. The new Editor is Alexandre Moniz Barbosa son of Sebastiao and Otilia Moniz Barbosa from Anthoi Guirdolim. Alexandre became a journalist in 1990 and was the Assistant Editor the magazine Goa Today till he joined Herald in November 2014. He is married to Joan da Costa and has a daughter named Nicole.

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott held its annual Christmas Party for Senior Citizens of Chandor, Cavorim and Guirdolim village at the Guirdolim Club premises on Goa Liberation Day with around 200 senior citizens participating. Well known musician from the village Cypriano who is also the choir master in the church entertained the senior citizens with his troupe that included top performers in the Voice of Goa contest over the years. The senior citizens actively participated in the ‘Bombing the Cities’ game organized for them which was finally won by Michael Gomes who lives in the Home for the Aged at Cotta which is run by St Vincent de Paul Society. Guirdolim gets a new Panchayat member

Janety Georgina Cardoso e Silveira was elected as the new member of Guirdolim Village Panchayat representing ward No. 3. The bye elections were necessitated following the resignation of Flavia da Costa who was elected from this ward at the general elections to the panchayat held in 2017. Janety who was backed by local MLA Clafacio Dias polled 101 votes while her nearest rival Sunita Gonsalves polled 92 votes. The other candidates in the fray were Ana Piedade D’Costa who polled 52 votes and Rosen Frenzila D’Costa who got 28 votes while two votes were rejected. The new Managing Committee of Chandor Club for the term 2018 to 2020 was elected unanimously today at the general body meeting with Domnick Mendes being elected President for the third consecutive year. Incidentally in 1992 Domnick was elected as the Chandor Club’s youngest managing committee member and since then has held various responsibilities that culminated in him getting elected as President in 2014. Top police officials hailed it as a rare gesture that was bound to be a morale booster as Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott not only painted the police outpost at Chandor but also provided some basic amenities to the police personnel posted there. GBE painted the entire façade of the outpost with the yellow and white paint of the erstwhile Portuguese regime and also offered five mattresses and pillows along with one water filter to the staff.
