Pre-monsoon cleanliness drive

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott in collaboration with the Village Panchayats of Chandor-Cavorim and Guirdolim undertook a pre-monsoon cleanliness drive in the two villages wherein plastic and glass found lying by the roadside, in gutters and in open spaces was collected. Around 33 labourers were involved in this massive cleanliness drive that started at 7 am and ended at 11:30 am. While nearly one truckload of plastic waste was collected from the two villages, one mini-truck load of glass bottles and other waste was also collected. GBE’s annual picnic held

GBE’s annual picnic held

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott held its annual picnic for members and families on 16th May 2015 just across the Kushawati river and it was a great success as those who attended had a blast and those who did not make it missed a great event. In all 22 members were there for the picnic and two of them – Irene Antao and Sandra de Costa – brought their sons. So participation of families was minimal this year. The males dove into the river and swam around while some of them went kayaking including Irene’s son. Anthony Pereira, as usual entertained those gathered with his melodious singing. GBE gets a new Managing Committee

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott got a new managing committee at the annual general body meeting held on 3rd May 2015 where Advocate Joe Antao from Guirdolim was elected the president. Of the 13 managing committee members elected 10 were members of the previous managing committee. The three new faces are Felix Furtado as General Secretary, Anand Shirodkar as Treasurer and Serena Antao as Managing Committee member. Advocate Joe Antao who was the vice president in the outgoing managing committee was unanimously elected as the President. His name was proposed by the outgoing president John Douglas Coutinho and seconded by Alzira Pereira. Cycle expedition

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott undertook a cycle expedition of the village on 19th April 2015 with 10 members and two prospective members cycling through Cavorim, Guirdolim and Chandor. The 12 cyclists cycled 35 kms in two hours and forty five minutes as the expedition that commenced at 6:30 am ended at 9:15 am. The 10 members were John Douglas Coutinho (president), Rui da Silva (vice president), Darwin Cardoso (treasurer), Basil Fernandes (MC member), Rossi Fernandes, Brian Fernandes, Babazinho Dias, Minush Gomes, Ligorio Fernandes, John Fernandes and the two prospective members were Andrison Pereira son of Anthony Pereira (MC member) and Emerson Britto son of Irene Antao (MC member). Chandor Club

Chandor Club at its general body meeting held on 19th April in the club premises resolved to give top most priority to collect funds so that the club premises may be completed in the next one year before the term of the current managing committee expires. It is learnt that during the last one year the club has spent around Rs. 17,00,000/- on the building premises taking the total amount spent on it so far to around Rs. 75,00,000/-. It is learnt that the club needs another Rs. 35,00,000 to complete the premises in all aspects given the fact that the ground floor or the basement is lying bare at the moment.
