Altogether 14 participants of the cutting, stitching and embroidery course were presented their certificates and given a free electric machine for their personal use at the valedictory function held on 6th November 2014 at the meeting place of Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott in Chandor. The classes were organized by Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott and totally financed by the Rotary Club of Cuncolim who not only paid the fees of the teacher but also provided the machines to the participants. Chandor Gets Trained First Aiders

Thanks to the initiative taken by Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott and duly supported by the Rotary Club of Cuncolim, the village of Chandor today has 15 trained first aiders along with two persons obtaining the Basic Life Support Proficiency Certificate. The course on first aid was organized by Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott and was conducted by St John Ambulance Association, Goa – which is an internationally recognized institute. In fact the certificate issued by the organization is recognized the world over and has been used by many to secure well paying jobs in the West. The Iconic Alma Khuris at Cavorim was vandalized once again on the intervening night of October 18 and 19 making this the third time when the cross has been desecrated. Residents of Cavorim who were trudging to the Chandor mount to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Piety were shocked to see the vandalized cross in the early morning. This is the third time the cross has been vandalized. The last time it was vandalized was in 2010 where along with the Cross, the bandstand near the church and the cross at the altar at the cemetery was also vandalized. Residents of Guirdolim can now heave of sigh of relief as the Panchayat is in the process of commencing door to door plastic waste collection very soon. Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott (GBE) has been working in the two villages of Chandor-Cavorim and Guirdolim for the last more than five years on garbage management. Probably in recognition of their good work, GBE President John Douglas Coutinho was appointed on the Garbage Management Committee of Chandor-Cavorim Village Panchayat and subsequently elected its chairman. While the country paid respect to the father of the nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on October 2 this year, Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott too undertook a special programme to mark the occasion. GBE members planted bougainvillea saplings in the three triangular traffic islands existing in front of the Chandor church. In all 17 saplings were planted by 15 members who had gathered at the spot.
