22 Chandorkars trained in fruit & vegetable preservation


Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott supported by Rotary Club of Cuncolim organized a “fruit and Vegetable Preservation course for people of Chandor for three days which was attended by 22 people.

The course was conducted by Gajanan Tari a former employee of the Food and Nutrition Board of the Central Ministry of Women and Child and he taught the participants six different items all recommended by the Central Food Technological Research Institute at Mysore.
Spread out over three days, the participants were guided as they prepared lime cordial, chilli pickle, mixed fruit jam, lime peel pickle and tomato ketchup.

The course was conducted at the GBE meeting place and the following members also got trained: Sebastiana Cardozo, Maria Mascarenhas, Irene Antao, Serena Antao and Suzie Pereira. The pickles,  lime cordial and jam prepared during the course were distributed amongst the participants on the last day.

All participants besides being given a certificate by GBE and Rotary Club of Cuncolim, were also given an apron sponsored by John Douglas Coutinho.

The participants were also given a small talk on importance of segregation of garbage at source and 11 of them were given cloth shopping bags that are prepared by GBE wile 8 of them took the pamphlet prepared by GBE on how to segregate waste.

Gajanan Tari who conducted the course was presented a memento as a token of appreciation while Dr. Jorson of Rotary Club of Cuncolim who has been always helping GBE was given a “love apple” plant.
