On 1st May 2022 established playwright Prince Jacob’s tiatrApunn Apnnak Dev Somestank” was staged in the open space in front of the church and had former general secretary Basil Fernandes as the project manager.

Crowd 1While the total expenditure on staging this tiatr was Rs. 69,350, the income was Rs. 1,78,930 thus resulting in a surplus of Rs. 1,09,580/-. This surplus was because the cost of the tiatr which was Rs. 40,000/- was sponsored by a well-wisher of the organization and Rs. 82,000/- was received by way of sale of tickets by the members.

The Konkani natak titled “Kanni Novea Yugachi”  was staged on 27th November at the Chandor Club premises with Anthony Pereira and Basil Fernandes as the project managers. Though the natak was being staged for the first time, it attracted an impressive crowd as tickets were freely distributed to those interested. The losses were mitigated to some extent by Chandor Club who offered their premises free of cost for the show.

PosterThis natak propagated a very relevant message of education in mother tongue was written by Suchita Narvekar who also acted in it and was directed by Sushant Nayak. Rajdeep Naik who is very famous because of the “Hello Vasanti” clips on the social media, played the lead role in this show.

The total expenditure on staging it was around Rs. 40,000 of which Rs. 30,000 which was the amount charged by the producers, was sponsored by a well wisher.

Conducting such fund raising activities is of paramount importance for GBE as all its activities are conducted from its funds which largely come as contributions from members or sponsorship from well-wishers. Since its inception in 2008 GBE has not taken even one rupee as donation or sponsorship from any politician and this indeed is a remarkable feat.
