Benedito Fernandes

BennyBenedito Fernandes, more commonly known as Benny, founder member of Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott and one of its most active member ever present for any and every activity died of a massive heart attack on 13th December 2014. The final rites were held on 15th December which was attended by a very large crowd.

At the eulogies rendered during the funeral service, the two speakers were unanimous that Benny’s love for the village and its people could never be questioned. Joy D’Silva, general secretary of Chandor Club said the smile that captivated people, the wise words that he uttered and the smiling face has been obliterated forever. General Secretary of Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott Julio D’Silva listed out some of the significant works done by him in the village and added that fulfilling his dreams and living to his ideals would be the best homage the organization could pay to him.

Benny was one of the persons instrumental in forming Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott and he strove to keep the flag of the orgnisation flying high. In fact he was a member of Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott’s managing committee since the organization was constituted. His only incentive was love for the villager and the villagers, He was one of key persons to take up the cleanliness drive in the village and would not hesitate to clean even the dirtiest places in the village.

His love for the villagers was seen when he helped people in trouble either financially or morally. He did not hesitate to clean the wounds of bed ridden patients suffering from bed sores.

Benny will be sorely missed by Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott that will ever remember him very fondly. There is no doubt that the heavenly gates were opened for him. In fact on 1st June 2014 God had indicated that he wanted Benny with him but he lived with us for a bonus period of 6 months and 12 days.

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott prays fervently that his wife Alzira Fernandes, who is also a member, gets the strength to bear with the tremendous loss she has suffered and urges all people to pray for her.
