Pre-monsoon cleanliness drive

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott in collaboration with the Village Panchayats of Chandor-Cavorim and Guirdolim undertook a pre-monsoon cleanliness drive in the two villages wherein plastic and glass found lying by the roadside, in gutters and in open spaces was collected.

Around 33 labourers were involved in this massive cleanliness drive that started at 7 am and ended at 11:30 am. While nearly one truckload of plastic waste was collected from the two villages, one mini-truck load of glass bottles and other waste was also collected.

Twelve Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott members led by the President Joe Antao were actively involved in the drive. The other members who participated are Vice-President Darwin Cardoso, Managing Committee Members John Douglas Coutinho, Julio D’Silva, Anthony Pereira, Rui da Silva and Ligorio Fernandes along with members Jose Inacio Fernandes, Michael Pereira, Brendan Coutinho, Sita Antao and Minush Gomes.

Members of the Chandor-Cavorim Village Panchayat Lucia Coutinho, Reve Furtado, Elizaberth , Santurnina and Andrew Peixote were actively involved in the drive and walked through their wards with the labourers to clean them.

Guirdolim Sarpanch Sonia also joined in the drive in some pockets of her village. Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott is grateful to the panchas and Guirdolim Sarpanch for their help and participation.

This programme incurred an expenditure of around Rs. 50,000/- and there is an earnest request to members or Chandorkars who are not in Goa due to their employment, to contribute something towards this expenditure incurred to keep our villages clean.
