IMG_0822bGanv Bhavancho Ekvott carried out a tree plantation drive in Chandor on 23rd August 2015 wherein 39 plants of different species were planted with most of them being fruit bearing trees and a few flowering plants.
Officiating Parish Priest of Chandor, Fr. Saluzinho Fernandes commenced the drive by planting the first tree which incidentally was a neem plant which is known for its medicinal qualities.
All the 39 plants were sponsored with most of the sponsors being from the village itself except for two. Incidentally 32 plants were sponsored by Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott members themselves.
The plantation that commenced at 9:30 am concluded at around 5 pm. While all the saplings were planted before lunch, post lunch the plants were protected with tree guards and also watered as it did not rain that day.
This is the second time Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott is carrying out a tree plantation. Three years ago they had planted 24 saplings by the side of the road leading to the village cemetery and five plants along the road known as Misamer. All these saplings have grown into trees now.
