Vice President Basil Fernandes in his address lamented that some villagers did not support the club in this endeavor and even belittled the club and its managing committee members. However, he expressed a hope that now after seeing what the club has built; those who had stayed away will come closer.

General Secretary Joy D’Silva while pointing out that Chandor probably was the only village to have a club house with such facilities congratulated the villagers as the entire project costing nearly Rs. 1.30 crore has been funded by the villagers’ hard earned money alone.

All the speakers were full of praise for John Douglas Coutinho who they said was like a man possessed to complete the building for the last one year. He was ably assisted by Derick and Douglas Mendes, the president Domnic Mendes’ brothers who toiled day and night to ensure that the building was ready for inauguration on 7th February.

When the floor was thrown open for comments, Elvis Gomes concurred with Joy D’Silva and said that Chandor holds the distinction of being the first village to have such facilities.
