Annual Ladainha Celebrated
Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott held its annual ladainha at the Nagzor Cross on 30th May with a large number of people participating in it.
GBE member and the pastoral choir master Cypriano led singing the eight Konkani hymns including one dedicated to St Francis Xavier, Patron of the Indies and another to St Anthony, Patron of Cavorim where the cross is situated.
Quite a number of people living near the Nagzor Cross participated in the litany that as usual had the women outnumbering the men. Irene Antao, Menino alias Minush Gomes and Ivo Fermamdes informed the people about the service.
GBE’s in house minstrel Anthony Pereira was sorely missed for this ladainha as he was hospitalised.
Project managers Ivo Fernandes, Diago Fernandes, Freddy Fernandes and Cian Mascarenhas did an excellent job.
GBE members Ivo, Diago, Cian, Minush, Freddy and Francis Peixoto cleaned the area around the cross besides painting and decorating the cross the previous day,
Participants were served delicious snacks that included Bhatk prepared by Maria Mascarenhas, Rissois by Freddy, attol by Sebastiana Cardozo, hole with a delicious filling by John Douglas Coutinho who provided the glasses and water while Minush provided pinagr and sponsored the candles and flowers.
All the snacks were washed down with lovely lemon grass tea prepared by Irene.
