Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott dedicated the month of January to service as besides visiting the inmates of the Home for the Aged at Cotta, its members also cleared the garbage accumulated by the side of the two main roads passing through the twin villages of Chandor-Cavorim and Guirdolim. On 24th January 12 GBE members visited the Alberque or Home for the aged at Cotta which is managed by the Society of St Vincent de Paul, Margao. Besides interacting with the inmates including those living on the ground floor, GBE also gave them fruits and snacks. Appreciating this gesture, the inmates also said a short prayer for the organization and its members. Twin villages of Guirdolim and Chandor-Cavorim celebrated two feasts – Feast of Our Lady of Bethlehem and Solemnity of the Epiphany on January 6 at the church dedicated to Nossa Senhora de Belem. Chandor is one of the three places in Goa where the Maggi visiting Baby Jesus is enacted. Incidentally, this enactment resumed in the early 70s after a 25 year break in Chandor. Maverick Antao, son of Mario and Pearl Antao from Anthoi was one of the three Kings. Dressed in red, he represented King of Arabia Balthazar who carried Myrrh as his gift. Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott held its annual Christmas Party for Senior Citizens of the twin villages of Guirdolim and Chandor-Cavorim on 19th December at the Chandor Club premises with much gusto. Around 300 elders enjoyed the party greatly as there was music, dancing, games and lunch too. Antonio Pereira was in his elements as the host regaling the crowd with his jokes, singing and even accompanying other singers. Truly a compere beyond compare! Santa Claus on arrival gave sweets specially prepared by Emperor Chocolates of MAAST to those gathered. In keeping with its motto of making life easier for the inhabitants of the twin villages of Guirdolim and Chandor Cavorim, Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott took 18 elderly persons to Old Goa to participate in the Exposition of the relics of Goencho Saib St Francis Xavier/ Carrying the 18 including the inhabitants of the Old Age Home at Cotta, the bus left Chandor at 1:37 pm on 12th December 2024. GBE members Francis alias Hanchik Peixoto, Menino alias Minush Gomes and Jassu Gomes along with one person from Giurdolim assisted the elderly on their pilgrimage.
