Walkathon through Guirdolim, ?Chandor
As Diwali was celebrated world over on November 12, 2023, Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott held a Walkathon through the twin villages of Chandor-Guirdolim to mark this festival of lights so that people may be enlightened to fight communal vitriol that is disturbing peace in the country. The 89 participants walked 6.5 kms in 77 minutes as they walked through the twin villages under the theme “For communal harmony, peace and harmony”. The partici-pants left at 4:22 pm and the last batch returned at 5:39 pm though some youngsters who ran were the first to reach at 5:30 pm. Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott revived its programme of visiting the sick and elderly people living in the twin villages of Guirdolim and Chandor-Cavorim. The sick and elderly living in Cotta area were visited on 12th February while on 19th February those living in Culsabhat ward of Cavorim were visited and on 26th February such residents from New Township in Guirdolim village were visited. Among those visited on 19th February were GBE founder president Rui da Silva who was hospitalized due to an illness and also GBE member Agnel Fernandes. Incidentally, GBE member Domnick Mendes’ father Cyril was also visited on this day.
