Chandor cycle expeditionGanv Bhavancho Ekvott undertook a cycle expedition of the village on 19th April 2015 with 10 members and two prospective members cycling through Cavorim, Guirdolim and Chandor. The 12 cyclists cycled 35 kms in two hours and forty five minutes as the expedition that commenced at 6:30 am ended at 9:15 am.

The 10 members were John Douglas Coutinho (president), Rui da Silva (vice president), Darwin Cardoso (treasurer), Basil Fernandes (MC member), Rossi Fernandes, Brian Fernandes, Babazinho Dias, Minush Gomes, Ligorio Fernandes, John Fernandes and the two prospective members were Andrison Pereira son of Anthony Pereira (MC member) and Emerson Britto son of Irene Antao (MC member).

The cyclists had posters on healthy environment tied to the cycles and they were watched with surprise by the villagers wherever they went. In fact they reached the Chandor church at 7:30 am just when the first mass ended and everybody was looking at the cycles and the posters. Similar was the case at the St. Tiago’s chapel at Cotta when they arrived there just as the mass ended.

The expedition began from Cavorim and then went to Bindimoll via Donemoll. From Bindimoll they cycled to Fatramoll via Sailabhat and from there they proceeded to New Township from where they arrived at the church after going through Colosso. Next they proceeded to Villa Formosa from where they came out near Mushroom garden and proceeded to the Guirdolim chapel. From there it was to Bacho then to Rohinibhat via the road leading to the leprosy hospital. After cycling through Curtorim for a short while near Baracho’s hospital, the cyclists returned to Amblimoll and then to Jitlem from where they went to Cotta and then returned to Cavorim.

While there were 12 people on the cycles, four members – Sita Antao (MC member), Irene Antao (MC member), Alzira Fernandes (MC member) and Julio D’Silva – accompanied them all along the route on motorized two wheelers.
