GBE holds AGM

Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott (GBE) held its 1st Annual General body Meeting (AGM) under the leadership of a lady president on 11th October 2025, adjacent to its regular meeting place at Cavorim. In all 34 members participated in this AGM.

In her welcome address president Alzira Pereira pointed out that the AGM enables the organization to pause and look at the year gone by and to prepare for the challenges ahead.

“From our community programs to our environmental initiatives, each project has carried forward our mission of growth, empowerment, and sustainability. The challenges ahead maybe different but our values remain the same; compassion, accountability, and a shared desire to create positive change,” she said.

 General Secretary (GS) Jose Coutinho read out his report which was supported by photographs projected on a wide screen, with former GS Francis Coutinho projecting the photographs. The GS noted that the organization had undertaken 17 major projects since the last AGM, besides its regular activity of visiting the sick and elderly from the twin villages of Guirdolim and Chandor-Cavorim.

As Treasurer Anand Shirodkar was indisposed, Vice-President Darwin Cardoso read out the statement of accounts, where he pointed out that the total income was 10,41,047 Rs. and the total expenditure was 3,66,127 Rs. He clarified that except for staging of the tiatr on May Day all the other receipts came by donations by the members and the organization’s well-wishers.
 The AGM concluded with a fellowship where members were served delicious snacks and dinner cooked by chefs at Ciarans, a beachside getaway owned by founder member and ex-president John Douglas Coutinho.
