GBE treads new paths in September

In September 2025, Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott (GBE) undertook a project never attempted before since its formation in late 2000s; besides they also crossed the state border to visit two placed in the neighbouring state of Karnataka.

 On 8th September 10 GBE members lead by president Alzira Pereira visited Beth-Beth Lehem society at Bhaire near Karwar. This society is run and managed by Fr. Salvador Coutinho who hails from Chandor.
Mentally challenged and homeless people are looked after at this institute, and presently there are 27 such people housed here. Before forming this society, Fr. Salvador was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Society of Priests, where when he was blessed by the Holy Spirit and started his mission of evangelisation in Goa before he was forced to shift to Karwar.

GBE members who traveled in a mini-bus left Chandor at 8 AM and after interreacting with Fr. Salvador and his inmates, they had lunch at a restaurant before traveling to Shivamogga.
 At Shivamogga which was earlier called Shimoga they visited India’s second highest plunge waterfall called the Jog falls which is formed from the Sharavathi River. Jog waterfalls if located 90 Km form the Society.

 GBE organized its first ever exhibition football match on 14th September 2025. Given the fact that GBE has a lady president for the first time, the first football match was between girls.

 St. Joseph’s Education Institute, Chandor defeated Bethany Convent High School, San Jose Areal by 2 goals.

 As this match was held during the Seamen’s trophy tournament organized by Chandor Club, its president Egidio Da Costa presented the trophy to the winners, while the GBE president Alzira Pereira presented the trophy to the runners-up. Besides there were two individual trophies both bagged by the students of St. Joseph’s Educational Institute. Ameera Fernandes was awarded the Best Goal Scorer for the scoring the 1st goal; while Jevira Dias was awarded the trophy for the Emerging Player.
