GBE’s Annual General Body Meeting held

Members 1The Annual General Body Meeting of Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott was held on 27th January from 6:55 pm onwards with 53 members participating. The meeting was held on the manicured lawns of founder member John Douglas Coutinho adjacent to the usual GBE meeting room.

RuiPresident John Fernandes in his brief welcome address appreciated the presence of founder President Rui da Silva who was present despite his health issues.

General Secretary Francis Coutinho then read the minutes of the previous General Body meeting which was held on 4th December 2022m

screenWith the help of slides displaying relevant pictures and a summary, he then presented the General Secretary’s report which was much appreciated.

He pointed out that for the first time since its inception, GBE visited Hindu brethren at their houses during Ganesh Chaturthi. While acknowledging its great success and impact, he said it would be another regular activity of the organisation.

GS reportActing on the suggestion made at the last General Body meeting, GBE has installed solar powered traffic signals near the village school, he said.

Treasurer Anand presented the statement of accounts for the financial year 2022-2023 and for the current financial year as on 26th January 2023.

At the brainstorming session member Jaret de Silva suggested conducting the football training camp every year and if possible set up a football academy in the village since there was a football ground at Cavorim.

FellowshipThe General Body meeting ended with fellowship where a sumptuous dinner that included grilled prawns and chicken along with fried fish, salad and vegetable was available to devour. An assortment of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages were also available and member Damacian sponsored some of the alcoholic drinks.
