Visit to Daddy’s Home
Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott paid a visit to Daddy’s Home a house dedicated to teaching the differently abled children. Every year during the Lenten period Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott remembers some section of the specially blessed and this year it was Daddy’s Home.
The one-and-a-half hour spent at Daddy’s Home with the nearly 90 students of varying ages was truly an eye opener. The enthusiasm of the children was infectious to say the least. Although GBE had planned an entertainment programme, it had to be shelved to give in to the demand of the children who participated with full gusto.
Anthony Pereira and Everly Mascarenhas led the singing while Alzira Fernandes led the children in the dancing. Peter from Macasana, a student of Daddy’s Home belted out old Konkani hits and joined in the other songs too. Loraine was ever ready to dance for all the numbers and that is the reason the two of them were awarded the most enthusiastic students.
The passing the hat game held in two groups was won by Godfrey and James respectively while the tug-of-war ended dramatically with the rope snapping and the winning team crashing to the ground. Fortunately nobody was injured.
Life Member Alvito Antao who was down in Goa from London and specially participated in the programme presented a memento to Fr. Valmiki who runs Daddy’s Home and now plans to have a residential house for seniors in Guirdolim.
GBE members who visited Daddy’s Home were Project Manager Benedito Fernandes, Alzira Fernandes, Tiago da Silva, Alvito Antao, Antonio Antao, Serena Antao, Maria Mascarenhas, Basil Fernandes, Anthony Pereira, Irene Antao and Julio D’Silva.
