Visiting sick & elderly in February
Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott visited 19 sick and elderly residents of the twin villages of Guirdolim and Chandor-Cavorim in the month of February.
On Sunday, 4th February they visited 11 houses in Villa Formosa and were quite taken aback to note that five of the elderly persons live alone with only a maid coming everyday and attending to their needs.
But, it was heartening to note that four of the elderly persons are looked after by their daughters, while two are looked after by their spouses.
Vice President Irene Antao, John Douglas Coutinho, Ezly Henriques, Serena Antao, Damacian alias Cian Mascarenhas, Alzira Pereira, Francis alias Hanchik Peixote, new member Freddy and Ashley Coutinho who has returned from UK visited these people.
Those visited were Ida Antao, Perpetual Antao, Tereza Fernandes, Philizmina, Theodine Peixote, Remedious Peixote, Martinha Fernandes, Albertina Fernandes, Sebastian Fernandes, Connie Fernandes and Gracian Fernandes.
Two ladies from Villa Formosa helped GBE in this endeavour. While Ivy informed the elderly and sick that they will be visited, Melita guided GBE members to the houses.
GBE agreed to sponsor a prosthesis to Remedios Peixote.
On 18th February they visited 8 persons including member Babazinho Dias who was just discharged from hospital where he was kept under observation for bronchitis.
They also visited founder member late Benny Fernandes’ mother Fatima and Martin Fernandes both from Igorjebhat. Incidentally, Martin had recently undergone a surgery.
Five persons were visited in Villa Formosa namely, Marceline Fernandes, Milu Telles, Clemente Dias, Piedade Fernandes and Sofia Fernandes.
Nine members visited namely, John Douglas Coutinho, Vita Pereira, Beatrice, Alzira Pereira, Menino alias Minush Gomes, Basil Fernandes, Hanchik Peixote and Jose Coutinho.
All those who were visited were given organges by GBE which were carefully wrapped in paper by Ezly in keeping with the organisation’s commitment to reduce the use of plastic.
