Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott held their annual Christmas party for senior citizens of the village on 21st December from 10 am onwards and ended with lunch. A record number of 147 senior citizens attended the party and had real fun. A very active and committed member of Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott, late Benny Fernandes had volunteered to be the project manager for this programme and he wanted to ensure that the senior citizens have a good time. Following his death it was decided to go ahead with the party to fulfill his dream and that is exactly what happened on 21st December. Chandor gets 14 new tailors

Altogether 14 participants of the cutting, stitching and embroidery course were presented their certificates and given a free electric machine for their personal use at the valedictory function held on 6th November 2014 at the meeting place of Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott in Chandor. The classes were organized by Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott and totally financed by the Rotary Club of Cuncolim who not only paid the fees of the teacher but also provided the machines to the participants. Chandor Gets Trained First Aiders

Thanks to the initiative taken by Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott and duly supported by the Rotary Club of Cuncolim, the village of Chandor today has 15 trained first aiders along with two persons obtaining the Basic Life Support Proficiency Certificate. The course on first aid was organized by Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott and was conducted by St John Ambulance Association, Goa – which is an internationally recognized institute. In fact the certificate issued by the organization is recognized the world over and has been used by many to secure well paying jobs in the West. BEAUTIFYING TRAFFIC ISLANDS

While the country paid respect to the father of the nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on October 2 this year, Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott too undertook a special programme to mark the occasion. GBE members planted bougainvillea saplings in the three triangular traffic islands existing in front of the Chandor church. In all 17 saplings were planted by 15 members who had gathered at the spot. GBE has undertaken the task of not only providing manure to the saplings but also to trim them regularly so that they do not become a hindrance for traffic. Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott organized a demonstration of scientific way of disposal of non functioning tube lights without harming the environment or causing nuisance to the public. On 4th September 2014 two demonstrations were held at the Panchayat Offices of Chandor-Cavorim and Guirdolim. A Bombay based company Ecoreco separated the mercury from the tube lights which was collected in a separat4e container which is then scientifically disposed. As for the glass and aluminium parts of the tube lights, they are crushed and stored in a drum which is then separated and accordingly disposed off. While at Chandor Cavorim 320 tube lights were disposed off, at Guirdolim the number of tube lights taken care of was 780. GBE incurred a total expenditure of Rs. 13,750/- for this...

Guirdolim cleanliness drive

  Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott (GBE) on 28th May 2014 helped Guirdolim Panchayat clean certain portions of their village of the accumulated garbage therein. The area behind the building housing the Canara Bank, the Monte area, the place around the cemetery and the creek separating Cavorim from Guirdolim where there is a small bridge at present, were cleaned. Ironically, while GBE President John Douglas Coutinho pressed into service his around 27 labourers GBE members were woefully short in numbers and more so members from Guirdolim village.
